ROLE OF THE CORE COMMITTEE

The Role of the Core Committee is to:

  1. Assess progress;
  2. Provide advice and guidance on issues facing the project;
  3. Review submissions made by sectoral groups;
  4. Assist with resolving strategic-level issues and risks;
  5. Use influence and authority to assist the project in achieving its outcomes;

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CORE COMMITTEE CHAIR

  1. Set the agenda for each meeting;
  2. Ensure the agenda and supporting materials are delivered to members in advance of meetings;
  3. Make the purpose of every meeting clear to members and explain the agenda at the beginning of each meeting;
  4. Clarify and summarize what is happening throughout each meeting;
  5. Keep the meeting moving by putting time limits on each agenda item and keeping all meetings to two hours or less;
  6. Encourage broad participation from members in the discussion;
  7. End each meeting with a summary of decisions and assignments;
  8. Follow up with consistently absent members to determine if they wish to discontinue membership;

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CORE COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Committee members have several responsibilities. He/ She must:

  1. Understand the goals, objectives and desired outcomes of the Council;
  2. Ensure that the project is making prudent decisions- especially in workplan and responding to issues, risks and proposed project changes;
  3. Ensures that the project remains aligned with the strategy, policies and directions across the Government;
  4. Understand and represent the interests of Council stakeholders;
  5. Take a genuine interest in the Council’s outcomes and overall success;

HIERARCHY

The Core Committee consists of the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Advisor and Committee Members. The role of the Core Committee is to provide guidance and leadership to the Council to ensure that the goal is achieved. The Sectoral Groups consist of individual chairpersons who would function similarly to the Chairman and will be responsible principally for the achievement of the objectives of the Council.
