The Inaugural Youth Excellence Awards of the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth took place this year on January 11, 2025. The awards were slated to take place in December 2024 but due to unforeseen circumstance it was postponed nevertheless, it was deemed to be a success. The Inaugural awards saw a total of 129 individuals from more than sixty communities being nominated across 24 categories and Jada Ross being crowned the Prime Minister’s Champion.

The Youth Excellence Awards event is designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements, talents, and contributions of outstanding young individuals. The event brings together young leaders, activists, entrepreneurs, artists, scholars and athletes to honour their excellence and inspire others to reach their full potential. The awards are designed to foster a sense of recognition and celebration, inspire and empower, promote positive values and strengthen networks and collaboration.

The Youth Excellence Awards Report features all the nominees across the categories, the scoresheets for each category, the winners in each category, pictures from the awards and much more. The Report will be made available digitally via the pmacy.gov.vc website and also physically at various entities principally schools, the airport just to name a few.

Notwithstanding the above, the Youth Excellence Awards is scheduled to take place again in 2025 in October. The process has already begun. This year there will be some additions to the number of awards, some awards would be renamed and the criteria will be widened for some awards to enhance inclusivity. The format of the awards will remain similar to the Inaugural awards but as the date draws closer more information will be disseminated.

The Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth will also rollout its first ever Youth Magazine which is just another means of advocating for and showcasing the youth of this nation. The Future Volume 1 of the magazine will feature about eight pieces inclusive of Tourism, Education, Agriculture and others. The views expressed in the magazine are from the youths in the different sectors, thus serving as a mechanism for feedback which will further guide the Council’s strategies and plans. Moreover, the magazine provides a platform and space for the youths to be recognised and express themselves in the various fields. A similar distribution strategy will be used for the magazine but with minor variations. Once the release date is confirmed, the public will be updated.
