Biographies of Nominees
Kevan Glasgow
Kevan Glasgow is a dedicated Medical Social Worker with the Mental Health and Psychosocial Services Department of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment (MOHWE). Guided by compassion and faith, he provides vital psychosocial support to patients and families navigating illness, trauma, and loss, while also serving as a part time counsellor under the Employment Assistance Programme (EAP).
Currently pursuing a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at California Southern University, Kevan also holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Social Work from the Jamaica Theological Seminary. He is an adjunct lecturer in sociology and social work, teaching courses such as social planning, disability studies, and suicide prevention, helping shape the next generation of mental health professionals.
Kevan’s lifelong commitment to community well being is evident in the initiatives he has developed, including Small Circles, a therapeutic and training programme, and the Softer Hands Initiative for hospital staff. His leadership and advocacy have earned him speaking invitations from institutions such as the Lions Club SVG and the Caribbean Police Welfare Association, and he has represented MOHWE at the PAHO Global Conference on Violence Against Children.
Grounded in empathy, excellence, and service, Kevan Glasgow continues to champion mental health awareness, capacity building, and human connection across the Caribbean, living his mantra: “Don’t just be fully present; be a presence, an embodiment of warmth, hope and kindness.”
Kayashma Charles
Kayashma Charles is a Mental Health and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre under the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment. With over a decade of service in nursing and mental health care, she is deeply committed to promoting wellness, preventing psychological illness, and advancing the Ministry’s vision for inclusive and patient-centered mental health services.
Kayashma began her career as a Staff Nurse in 2013, where she provided essential care to patients with empathy, professionalism, and dedication. Today, she leads community-based initiatives, manages the Community Mental Health Team, and delivers public education programs designed to strengthen awareness and resilience across communities.
A proud graduate of the University of the West Indies School of Nursing, where she earned her Master of Science with Distinction, Kayashma also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Medical Sciences in Cuba. Her training extends internationally, including certifications in Disaster Related Psychological Trauma and Smart Healthcare and Technology Applications.
Known for her leadership, adaptability, and warmth, Kayashma continues to embody the values of service and compassion, inspiring others to approach mental health care with empathy, innovation, and purpose.
Junique Williams
Junique Williams is a passionate and goal-driven young professional dedicated to advancing health and wellness through the field of physical therapy. A recent graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, Junique combines academic excellence with a deep commitment to service and leadership.
During her time at UWI, she served as President of the Vincentian Students’ Association of Jamaica and First Vice President of the UWI Physical Therapy Students’ Association, where she championed student development, cross-cultural collaboration, and community engagement. Her strong leadership skills were matched by her academic achievements, earning her a place on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence.
Junique’s professional journey began at the Physiotherapy Department of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where she supported therapists in patient care and rehabilitation. She also demonstrated strong organizational and financial management abilities as an Event Manager and Budget Planner at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.
Her drive for excellence has earned her multiple awards, including the GHS Peggy Ince Hull Award for Netball and the Ministry of Education Award for Outstanding CSEC Performance. Patient, determined, and compassionate, Junique continues to inspire others through her dedication to holistic health, education, and youth empowerment in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Dr. Jahmito James
Dr. Jahmito James is a passionate Vincentian medical professional dedicated to advancing holistic and patient-centered healthcare in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Currently serving as a Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, Dr. James provides essential maternal and reproductive health services through antenatal clinics, surgical procedures, and patient care grounded in empathy and precision.
A graduate of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Havana, Cuba, Dr. James is fluent in both English and Spanish and is recognized for his strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and commitment to lifelong learning. His training includes Basic and Advanced Life Support as well as Obstetric Ultrasound and Colposcopy, reflecting a broad and evolving expertise in women’s health.
Beyond hospital practice, Dr. James has also served as a Private Care Physician at the Integrated Medical Clinic, offering general consultation and community-based care. A licensed advocate for medicinal cannabis, he actively promotes safe, evidence-based, and culturally appropriate approaches to integrative medicine.
Known for his discipline, teamwork, and compassion, Dr. James is motivated by a deep belief in equitable access to quality healthcare. Outside of medicine, he finds balance through karate, hiking, and swimming, embodying the holistic lifestyle he encourages in others.
Dr. Ariel Gibson
Dr. Ariel Gibson currently serves as a Medical Officer at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. During her tenure, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and skill across multiple medical disciplines, including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and surgery.
A proud graduate of All Saints University, Kingstown, Dr. Gibson has complemented her medical training with certifications from Harvard Medical School in Mechanical Ventilation for COVID-19 and advanced courses in infectious disease, life support, and breastfeeding care. Her proficiency in clinical procedures such as lumbar punctures, thoracentesis, colposcopy, and caesarean sections underscores her deep commitment to continuous learning and patient-centered care.
Dr. Gibson’s excellence has been recognized through multiple awards and scholarships, including the Sir Frederick Ballantyne Scholarship, Island Scholars Inc. Scholarship, and the All Saints University Scholarship. Beyond the hospital, she serves her community as the Founder of Gibson’s Tutoring Services, which has empowered more than one hundred students across Saint Vincent, Canada, and the United States through free academic support.
Fluent in English and conversational Spanish, Dr. Gibson embodies professionalism, compassion, and dedication to both healing and education, inspiring a new generation of Vincentians to pursue excellence in medicine and community service.
Dr. Arthur Lawrence
Dr. Arthur Lawrence is a dedicated and compassionate Vincentian medical professional committed to delivering high quality patient care and promoting excellence in health services across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Currently serving as a Medical Intern at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, Dr. Lawrence has rotated through key departments including Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Pediatrics, gaining extensive experience in clinical diagnosis, patient management, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
A graduate of Richmond Gabriel University (formerly All Saints University) with a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Dr. Lawrence combines strong clinical knowledge with empathy and professionalism. His technical proficiency includes a wide range of medical and surgical procedures such as paracentesis, lumbar puncture, fracture reduction, suturing, and wound care. As Chief Intern during his OBGYN rotation, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentoring new interns, organizing duty rosters, and fostering collaboration within the clinical team.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Lawrence built a foundation of responsibility and service through roles in customer care, agriculture, and urgent care assistance, reflecting his strong work ethic and adaptability. Passionate about continuous learning and community well being, he holds certifications in Advanced and Basic Life Support and Mental Health Support for Individuals with Disabilities. Beyond the hospital, Arthur enjoys hiking, cricket, music, and reading, embodying balance, humility, and a lifelong commitment to service and personal growth.
