Background

Formed under the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth, the Information Technology (“I.T”) Sectoral Group in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is dedicated to integrating innovative technology into nation development. It brings together young I.T professionals and enthusiasts to influence technology policymaking and promote digital literacy. The committee focuses on leveraging I.T for economic growth, social progress, and enhanced government efficiency.

Vision

To develop a technologically empowered youth culture that drives innovation and fosters an inclusive digital economy in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Mission

To empower young individuals through I.T, support technological entrepreneurship, and advocate for digital transformation in all sectors, thus ensuring that the youth of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are at the forefront of the global digital revolution.

Objectives

  1. To increase I.T literacy and build capacity among the youth through training.
  2. To increase efficiency through technology on a nationwide level.
  3. Leverage the E-bus system to improve transportation within St. Vincent.
  4. To increase insights at various entities through improved data collection and analytics.
  5. To foster greater interaction between the public and the Government through technology.

Scope of Services

The specific objectives are as follows:

Conduct, in consultation with all relevant stakeholders (Government, Centre for Enterprise Development, NTRC, NCTI etc.) an I.T Sector readiness assessment for the development of the said sector, in line with regional and international best practices and frameworks, determine the most sustainable and effective approach for the implementation of recommendations to drive the sector within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

  1. The assessment should include a review of information technology projects, policies within the nation and provide recommendations for interoperability, development and utilisation of technology for greater efficiency and data driven insights specifically but not limited to tourism, agriculture, national security and business.
  2. The assessment should include a review of barriers towards information technology and the E-Bus system to enhance public transportation.
  3. The assessment should include the current skills within the information technology sector and provide recommendations to build capacity within the sector.
  4. Relative to (A) above make recommendations for policies pertaining to Artificial Intelligence and the usage of the Information Technology and Science lab.
