Background

The Sports Sectoral Group of the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was established to recognise the vital role that sports play in developing the well-being of our nation's youth. This committee brings together passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to harnessing the power of sports to empower, inspire, create wealth and positively impact the lives of the youth.

Empowering the youth of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines through sports, fostering a culture of inclusivity, excellence, and well-being.

Mission

To actively engage, advocate for, and contribute to the holistic development of the youth through sports by creating opportunities for personal growth, community engagement, and national pride.

Objectives

  1. To increase the participation of young people in sports at the community, national, regional and international levels.
  2. To advocate for the development and maintenance of sporting facilities to create a conducive environment for athletic activities.
  3. To advocate for training and skill development programs for youth athletes, coaches, and sporting administrators.
  4. To advocate for youth-friendly sporting policies at the national level, ensuring the inclusion of the youth perspective in decision-making.
  5. To assess the importance and the impact of sports on an economy.

 

Scope of Services

The specific objectives are as follows:

Conduct, in consultation with all relevant stakeholders (Government, Sports Council, Football Federation etc.) a Sports Sector readiness assessment for the development of the Sports Sector, in line with regional and international best practices and frameworks, determine the most sustainable and effective approach for the implementation of recommendations to drive this sector within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

  1. The assessment should include a review of sporting facilities and provide recommendations for the improvement, development, utilisation and monetization of facilities.
  2. The assessment should include a review of barriers in sports, current sporting activities, policies, skills, programs, and projects geared towards sports development.
  3. The assessment should explore the contribution of sports to an economy and review regional and international means to develop sports tourism and contributions to the local economy.
