Background

The Professions sectoral group of the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council on Youth in St Vincent and the Grenadines was established to bridge the gap between young and upcoming professionals and the current workforce. Paving the way for success with the aid of scholarships, advice and mentorship opportunities to the youth of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

To empower and elevate the voices and opportunities of young professionals, promoting their active involvement in shaping the future of our nation.

Mission

We are committed to serving as a bridge between young professionals and policymakers, creating a platform for informed dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration. Through our collective efforts, we aim to cultivate an environment where the aspirations and concerns of young professionals are integrated into the decision-making processes that affect our sector and the broader society.

Objectives

  1. Increase the representation of young professionals in sector-specific discussions and policy formulation.
  2. Build awareness, enhance the skills and knowledge of young professionals.
  3. Foster collaborations with educational institutions, businesses, and government agencies to create internship and career opportunities for aspiring and young professionals.
  4. Build a strong professional network among young professionals for knowledge sharing and mentorship opportunities. 

Scope of Service:

The specific objectives are as follows:

Conduct, in consultation with all relevant stakeholders a Professional Sector readiness assessment for the development of the Professional Sector in line with regional and international best practices and frameworks, determine the most sustainable and effective approaches for the implementation of recommendations to drive the sector within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

  1. The assessment should include an evaluation of the different professions, the skill level, identify opportunities for mentorship and provide recommendations for networking.
  2. The assessment should assess issues affecting young professionals and provide recommendations for policy.
  3. The assessment should educate professionals on rights, responsibilities and civic engagement.
